Heart Institute in Treasure Coast

Heart disease is responsible for one in four deaths in the United States, making it the leading cause of death in the nation. At Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute, we understand the need for specialized cardiovascular care to prevent heart disease-related deaths in the Treasure Coast with a full continuum of diagnostic, interventional, and surgical care for our patients. To ensure better heart health and improved cardiovascular outcomes for members of the Palm Beach community, we are invested in the most advanced technologies available for patient care as well as reliable patient resources that can prevent heart disease altogether.

Common Patient Experiences

Patients may come to the Heart Institute as a result of a cardiovascular emergency or a referral from a primary care physician. In either case, patient care will include detailed diagnostic procedures followed by sophisticated treatment from a diverse team of cardiovascular specialists. Here’s a look at how the timeline of care in our Heart Institute may progress for the average patient.

  • Diagnostic Testing – Using procedures such as electrocardiograms and stress testing, our team can identify any insufficiencies in cardiovascular function to narrow down possible treatment options. In addition to these procedures, our doctors will use your personal and family health history to guide your diagnosis for more effective treatment.
  • Interventional Cardiology – For many patients, interventional cardiology can greatly improve conditions such as coronary artery disease, valve dysfunction, or vascular disorders. Using cardiac catheterization, an interventional cardiologist may identify blockages or abnormalities in the heart and blood vessels, then perform minimally-invasive treatment procedures to repair these deficiencies.
  • Surgical Consultation – If interventional procedures are unable to provide effective treatment, patients may work with our cardiovascular surgeons to plan more involved procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting or endovascular vein harvesting.
  • Rehabilitation – Following any cardiovascular treatment or cardiac episode, patients may benefit from cardiac rehabilitation. Our rehab programs are designed based on the unique needs of each patient, and they will help in cardiovascular recovery with improved nutrition, physical activity, and communication with the care team.
